About the artist
Juvenal Sansó (1929 to 2025) was a Spanish-born modernist artist who spent much of his life in the Philippines and became a significant figure in Philippine art. Known for his richly textured landscapes, florals, and dreamlike coastal scenes, his work was deeply shaped by his wartime experiences in Manila and his later years in Europe. Sansó worked across painting, printmaking, photography, textile design, and stage design, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit for his contributions to Philippine art.
